BYU QB Commit Ryder Burton Produces Top Rating At Elite 11 Regional

PROVO, Utah – Ryder Burton is the lone quarterback commit currently in BYU’s 2023 recruiting class. The Springville High standout landed a QB offer from BYU offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick in April. Then one month later, Burton pounced on the offer and committed to the Cougs.
Burton gave a glimpse over the weekend into why BYU coaches wanted to bring him into their quarterback pipeline. After stopping by BYU’s campus to see some fellow 2023 recruits on their official visits to Provo, Burton flew to Los Angeles for an Elite 11 regional.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to continue to play the sport I love. I am thankful for my Savior, my family and all who have helped me get to where I am today. Thank you @CoachRoderick @kalanifsitake and @CoachMeetch for believing in me as a player and a leader. pic.twitter.com/Rr8274n9Y1

The Elite 11 is the most prestigious quarterback competition for high school QBs in the country.
Performing well at one of the nine regionals gives quarterbacks a chance to compete in the Elite 11 finals.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Burton produced a “top rating” in the Los Angeles regional during the event. His score, which measured combine drills, was 85.89. That score was good for ninth among the QBs that participated.
Some of the testings included a 40-yard dash, vertical jump, 20-yard shuttle run, and power ball toss.

Elite 11 states that QBs drafted in the NFL over the past eight years average an 84.50 score from their combine tests. Former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson once produced a score of 101.34 when going through the Elite 11 in 2017.
Greg Biggins from 247Sports said Burton was “among the steadiest performers in the four-hour session, going through every rep at game speed and looking comfortable in the multi-drop format.”

The Elite 11 staff invites 20 quarterbacks to compete in the Elite 11 Finals from June 28-30 in Los Angeles. 15 of the 20 spots have already been filled with more invitations coming over the next few weeks. We will keep you updated if Burton hears his name called.
Burton will kick off his senior year with the Springville Red Devils on August 19 at home against Skyline. Last season, Burton led Springville to the 5A State Championship Game before falling to Lehi in the title game.
