SALT LAKE CITY – The Weber State Wildcats have now lost three consecutive games for the second time this season following a 83-79 loss to Idaho.

The Vandals hosted Weber State at ICCU Arena in Moscow, ID on Saturday, February 12.

Coming off of a home loss to league leading Montana State and a road loss against Eastern Washington on Thursday, the Wildcats trailed for more than 38 minutes and by as many as 20.

The Wildcats won the turnover battle 18-5, outscored the Vandals 18-6 on the fast break and scored 14 more points in the paint, finishing with a 50-36 PIP advantage.

Normally, those numbers would lead to a win but Weber State’s defense could never gain any footing on Saturday afternoon.

The Vandals finished at 58.5 percent shooting and a cool 40 percent from three were clear advantages over the Wildcats 46.8 percent from the field and an abysmal 21.1 percent from deep.

After falling behind early, Weber State used a 26-5 run to take a brief 43-42 lead thanks to a Dillon Jones layup.

The advantage was short lived as Idaho responded with consecutive three’s, ending the Weber State threat.

Jones finished with a 17 point 10 rebound double-double. Koby McEwen, Dontay Bassett and JJ Overton joined Jones in double figure scoring.

Mikey Dixon led the Vandals with a double-double of his own, finishing with 31 points and 10 rebounds in 37 minutes. Trevante Anderson also scored 26.

Weber State now heads home where they will attempt to right the ship against Sacramento State on Thursday, February 17. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. (MDT)
