Davis Up Five Spots In Newest KSLSports.com Game Night Live Power Rankings

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The first week of the high school football season saw some dominating performances and some upsets.
Corner Canyon continued their long winning streak but the top 5 has changed after some great performances last week.
Each week the KSL Sports team votes on the top 20 schools in the state across all classifications.
Here is the Game Night Live top 20 power rankings in the state of Utah as voted on by the KSL Sports team entering the second week of the season.

20. Olympus Titans (0-1)
Olympus struggled in the first and third quarters, going scoreless while now-No. 17 Mountain Ridge scored a touchdown in every quarter. Tommy Hoggan threw one touchdown pass and Peyton Rice ran in a touchdown.

19. Maple Mountain Golden Eagles (1-0)
BYU commit Kyson Hall had a big game with four catches, three of which were touchdowns. Maple Mountain picked up a 45-3 road win over Cedar Valley. Aedan Seiuli also returned an interception 85-yards for a touchdown. Quarterback Tyler Nelson threw five touchdown passes.

18. Fremont Silverwolves (0-1)
Fremont was in a shootout with No. 9 Brighton but fell short to the Bengals, 56-42. Drake Parker threw four touchdown passes in the loss.

17. Mountain Ridge Sentinels (1-0)
It’s the first win in school history for Mountain Ridge and it launched them into the rankings. They knocked off then-No. 11 Olympus, 27-17. Ayden Helm threw two touchdown passes to Jordan Day and Luke Johnson. Cade Uluave ran in two scores on the ground.

16. Roy Royals (1-0)
Roy scored 49 unanswered points as they knocked off Jordan on the road, 49-7. Parker Kingston threw four touchdown passes. Cade harris caught two touchdowns while Colby Dickson had a pick-six.

15. Sky View Bobcats (1-0)
The Bobcats jumped out to a 35-0 lead. They were able to hold off the ferocious comeback by Stansbury to pick up a 35-27 win. Kasen Carlsen threw three touchdown passes to three different receivers. Isaac Larsen had a 15-yard pick-six and Walter Collins ran in a two-yard touchdown in the win.

14. Westlake Thunder (1-0)
The Thunder were able to pick up a shutout road win over Woods Cross, 19-0. Brayden Ross threw all three touchdown passes to different targets, finding Oakley Slade, James Maxwell and Thomas Davis.

13. Kearns Cougars (1-0)
Kearns scored all three of their touchdowns on special teams and defense. Utah target recruit Jeff Bassa returned a kickoff 85-yards for a touchdown. Charles Henderson returned a blocked kick 70-yards for a TD and also had a 55-yard pick-six.

12. Timpview Thunderbirds (0-1)
In the Game Night Live Game of the Week, Timpview ran into a very good Lone Peak defense and couldn’t get anything going offensively, falling to the Knights at home, 24-0.

11. Herriman Mustangs (0-1)
After falling behind 21-7 in the first half, Herriman’s comeback attempt came up short, falling to then-No. 15 Davis, 24-20. It was the first high school football game that was played in the entire country. Nu’u Tafisi ran in a 9-yard touchdown, Brock Hollingsworth returned a kickoff 93-yards for a score and Jack White threw a 69-yard touchdown pass to Zack Dern.

10. Davis Darts (1-0)
Davis jumped out to a 21-7 lead before holding off then-No. 8 Herriman’s comeback, picking up a 24-20 win. Chance Trujillo threw two touchdown passes to Ethan healey and Owen Murdock. Spencer Ferguson ran in a 10-yard TD.

9. Brighton Bengals (1-0)
Gabe Curtis accounted for 6 touchdowns, four passing and two rushing. Owen Powers had two rushing scores as well to help Brighton knock off Fremont, 56-42.

8. Skyridge Falcons (1-0)
The Falcons went on the road and took care of Alta, 33-13. McCae Hillstead threw four touchdown passes to three different targets.

7. Pleasant Grove Vikings (1-0)
The Vikings scored 35 unanswered points before taking down Riverton, 35-7. Darrius Clemons had one rushing and one receiving touchdown in the win. Porter and Rex Connors each added a rushing touchdown.

6. East Leopards (1-0)
Amini Amone ran in two touchdowns, while both Luliano Sula and Mapa Vaenuku each added one rushing TD. Izaak Zimmerman threw one touchdown as East beat West Jordan, 42-19.

5. Orem Tigers (1-0)
Tauhi Tupola’s two rushing touchdowns, along with four passing touchdowns from Micah Fe’A carried Orem to a blowout 51-14 win over Mountain View.

4. Bingham Miners (0-0)
Bingham’s season opener against Weber was canceled after three Miners tested positive for COVID-19.

3. American Fork Cavemen (1-0)
The Cavemen handled then-No. 13 Lehi with a 55-0 shutout win. Maddux Madsen threw 5 touchdown passes, two to Noah Moeaki and one to each Fisher Ingersoll, Joe Togisala and Will Zundel. Spike Adams also ran in two TD’s in the win.

2. Lone Peak Knights (1-0)
Led by a stout defense, Lone Peak was able to get a road shutout win over then-No. 5 Timpview, 24-0. Siale Tahi ran in all three touchdowns but also had an impressive one-handed interception on defense.

1. Corner Canyon Chargers (1-0)
The Chargers continued their long winning streak with a 49-20 victory over then-No. 18 Farmington. Jaxson Dart threw three touchdowns while running in two more. Austin Bell added two rushing touchdowns. Noah Kjar, Cody Hagen and Talmage Handley each caught one touchdown pass apiece.
