Stansbury Stuns No. 20 Tooele With Upset Win At Home

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Stansbury handed their crosstown rival No. 20 Tooele their first loss of the season, 29-14 on Friday night on the road.

The Stallions didn’t score in the first half and trailed 14-0 but pitched a second half shutout defensively, while scoring 22 points in the third and a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Ezra Harris ran in two TD’s and threw one touchdown to Dylan Hamilton. Nate Bushnell added a rushing TD for Stansbury. Payton Sprouse threw a TD pass to Gabe Medina, while Mateaki Helu ran in a rushing touchdown for Tooele.

Here are all of the results in the 5A classification from the sixth week of the high school football season.

Region 5

Box Elder 42 @ Viewmont 21

The Box Elder Bees stung the Viewmont Vikings on Friday night, 42-21. Daxton Sumko and Cooper Stevenson each scored a pair of touchdowns for the Bees. With the result, Box Elder improved to a 2-4 record on the season and Viewmont fell to 2-4.

Bonneville 14 @ Bountiful 20

The game was tied at 14 heading into the fourth quarter before Corbin Cottle ran in the go-ahead touchdown with over seven minutes remaining in the game. That would be the game-winning score. Max Barker threw two touchdowns, both to Teagan Dougher for the Redhawks. Koy Dixon found Gavin Pelagio-Williams for his only passing TD, while also running in a score.

Northridge 19 @ Woods Cross 14

The Northridge Knights beat the Woods Cross Wildcats on Friday, 19-14. Maximus Fonoti-Maikui hit Zach Smith for a pair of Northridge touchdowns during the game. With the result, Northridge improved to a 5-1 record on the season and Woods Cross fell to 0-6.

Region 6

Olympus 14 @ East 38

The East Leopards ran past the Olympus Titans, 38-14. East’s Siona Vailahi accounted for four touchdowns in the Leopards’ victory. With the result, East improved to a 1-4 record on the season and Woods Cross fell to 4-2.

Skyline 7 @ Brighton 14

It was a defensive slugfest as Brighton scored both of their touchdowns in the first half, while Skyline managed to get their only TD in the third quarter. Mitchell Dolato and Kace Gurr each had one rushing touchdown for the Bengals. Jacob Campbell recovered a fumble for a touchdown for Skyline.

Highland 6 @ No. 14 Park City 41

The No. 14 Park City Miners cruised past the Highland Rams on Friday, 41-6. Park City’s Carson Tabaracci and Chase Beyer each scored a pair of touchdown in the Miners’ win. With the result, Park City improved to a 3-3 record on the season and Highland fell to 0-5.

Region 7

Hillcrest 7 @ Mountain View 49

Mountain View scored 28 points in the second quarter to pull away from Hillcrest. Jackson McCarty accounted for five touchdowns, four passing and one rushing. Jaemon Hill and DaiTrez Johnson each caught a touchdown in the win for the Bruins, their first of the season.

Payson 20 @ Uintah 28

The Uintah Utes outlasted the Payson Lions, 28-20. The Utes scored 21 points in the second quarter of action and owned a 28-6 lead at halftime. Payson scored 14 points over the final 24 minutes of action, but it wasn’t enough to avoided the loss. With the result, Uintah improved to a 3-3 record on the season and Payson fell to 3-3.

Cedar Valley 36 @ Timpanogos 35

The Cedar Valley Aviators snuck past the Timpanogos Timberwolves on Friday night. Aviators quarterback Easton Schank threw a go-ahead touchdown pass to Taygan Hansen in the final minute. With the result, Cedar Valley improved to a 3-3 record on the season and Timpanogos fell to 5-1.

Region 8

Jordan 7 @ No. 6 Orem 42

The No. 6 Orem Tigers crushed the Jordan Beetdiggers, 42-7. The Tigers scored 35 of their points during the first half. Orem’s Mack Hixson ran for three touchdowns. With the result, Orem improved to a 4-2 record on the season and Jordan fell to 2-4.

No. 5 Timpview 62 @ Alta 21

The No. 5 Timpview Thunderbirds flew past the Alta Hawks, 62-21. Thunderbirds quarterback Liu Aumavae tossed four touchdown passes during the game. With the result, Timpview improved to a 4-2 record on the season and Alta fell to 3-3.

Region 9

Maple Mountain 16 @ No. 13 Wasatch 54

The No. 13 Wasatch Wasps stung the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles. Wasatch’s Christopher Cook scored four rushing touchdowns. With the result, Wasatch improved to a 5-1 record on the season and Maple Mountain fell to 1-5.

Salem Hills 0 @ No. 18 Spanish Fork 28

The No. 18 Spanish Fork Dons blanked the Salem Hills SkyHawks on Friday, 28-0. Tayson Reid ran for a pair of touchdowns in the Dons’ win. With the result, Spanish Fork improved to a 4-1 record on the season and Salem Hills fell to 1-5.

No. 23 Springville 34 @ No. 17 Provo 14

The No. 23 Springville Red Devils upset the No. 17 Provo Bulldogs on Friday. Springville’s Ryder Burton tossed a pair of touchdown passes in the game. With the result, Springville improved to a 5-1 record on the season and Provo fell to 5-1.

Cottonwood 19 @ Murray 28

The Murray Spartans defeated the Cottonwood Colts, 28-19. Murray’s Lance Wightman scored a pair of touchdowns during teh game. With the result, Murray improved to a 3-3 record on the season and Cottonwood fell to 1-5.
