BYU QB Zach Wilson Scores His Fifth Touchdown Against La. Tech On Diving Run

PROVO, Utah – BYU quarterback Zach Wilson scored his fifth touchdown against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on a run that ended in an impressive dive to reach across the goal line.
The No. 22 ranked Cougars hosted the Bulldogs at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Friday, October 2.
Early in the fourth quarter, Wilson drove the Cougars down the field and capped off a 10-play, 71-yard drive with a 14-yard touchdown quarterback run and dive into the end zone.

Wilson’s run was resulted in a 45-7 BYU lead over Louisiana Tech with 13:25 left to play.
It was the junior quarterback’s fifth touchdown of the game and his third on the ground.
Through the first three-plus quarters of action, Wilson was 24/26 for 325 passing yards and two touchdowns. In the ground game, Wilson had eight carries for 43 yards and three touchdowns.

Wilson’s score moved the Cougars to 498 total yards, including 173 yards rushing.
Earlier in the game, ESPN play-by-play announcer Dave Flemming praised Wilson’s play.
“Nobody’s playing better than this guy right now,” Flemming said. “Maybe somebody is playing as well, but I don’t think anybody is playing better than Wilson. Maybe you could say the same thing about Kalani Sitake’s team as a whole.”

Through the first three games of the season, Wilson has posted a completion percentage of 82.2 percent on 72 pass attempts. He’s thrown for 949 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception. He’s also carried the ball 17 times for 41 yards and five touchdowns.
The Cougars went on to beat the Bulldogs 45-14. With the result, BYU improved to 3-0 on the season.
