SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah Utes and current Baltimore Ravens safety Marcus Williams participated in the NFL franchise’s annual day of community service.

The Ravens held their third annual “Caw to Action” community service day on Monday, October 3.

Williams and some of his teammates helped the United Way or Central Maryland and other charitable organizations serve the greater Baltimore area. The former University of Utah standout had the opportunity to serve meals to the community.

“We want to stop and take time, even in season, for us to come out into the community in a variety of opportunities, make sure the community feels us and knows we show up,” Ravens president Sashi Brown said via WBAL.

The event involved 21,000 volunteers and featured charitable efforts from collecting emergency and food supplies to landscaping and sorting through books.

“I think it’s a great idea. It just makes you feel good to come out,” Nancy Macomber, a volunteer, told WBAL.

The “Caw to Action” event hit 60,000 volunteer hours, according to the United Way.

“This is important for United Way because we really understand that the crux of impact starts with rolling your sleeves up and volunteering. Just making a difference in the community,” said Franklyn Baker, president and CEO of the United Way of Central Maryland.

About Marcus Williams

Williams helped serve the community following another big game in his hot start to the 2022 season.

During Baltimore’s Week 4 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the former Utah defensive back recorded his fourth takeaway of the season.

With 28 seconds left in the first quarter, Bills running back Devin Singletary was stripped of the football and Williams jumped on the ball amid a pile of players at the Buffalo 36-yard line. It was his first fumble recovery this season and second of his NFL career. Williams already has three interceptions this season.

The safety is in his sixth NFL season and first with Baltimore. This offseason, the former Utah standout signed with the Ravens after five seasons with the New Orleans Saints.

During his NFL career, Williams has recorded 352 total tackles, 263 solo tackles, one sack, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 18 interceptions, 42 pass breakups, and a touchdown.

The Ravens own a 2-2 record this season.

Baltimore’s next game is at home against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, October 9 at 6:20 p.m. (MDT) on KSL TV.
