SALT LAKE CITY – Former Cleveland Cavaliers forward Lauri Markkanen scored the first points in the preseason contest between the Utah Jazz and Toronto Raptors.

The Raptors hosted the Jazz at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Sunday, October 2.

With 10:57 remaining in the opening quarter, Markkanen found some space in the paint with a fadeaway that swished through the net for Utah’s first points of the preseason game.

The game’s first timeout came at the 6:24 mark with the Raptors owning a 14-10 advantage.

Markkanen led the Jazz with four points on 2-4 shooting. He added one rebounds during his first five minutes on the court. Malik Beasley and Mike Conley added three points apiece.

Last season with the Cavs, the Arizona product averaged 14.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per contest.

Utah’s game against Toronto is broadcast on AT&T SportsNet, NBA TV, and KSL Sports Zone.
