SALT LAKE CITY – In a surprising development, Collin Sexton was not in the starting lineup in his first preseason game with the Utah Jazz when they faced the Toronto Raptors, but it didn’t take long for him to make his first highlight-reel play.
Sexton was the key piece in the blockbuster trade that sent Donovan Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers and is expected to be a major contributor as the Jazz begin rebuilding the roster.
The guard subbed into the game midway through the first quarter but made an impressive over-the-head outlet pass to fellow newcomer Lauri Markkanen for a dunk on his first touch.
The team signed Sexton to a four-year, nearly $71 million deal to complete the trade in September. On his next possession, Sexton stole the ball from the Raptors and canned a corner three to start his Jazz career.

Sexton Doesn’t Start For Jazz
New Jazz head coach Will Hardy opted to start Mike Conley, Malik Beasley, Lauri Markkanen, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Kelly Olynyk in his debut.
Sexton is coming off a season in which he missed 71 games due to a meniscus tear, but was fully cleared for action during the summer.
The guard averaged 24.3 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.1 rebounds two seasons ago for the Cavaliers.
