SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU Cougars and current Los Angeles Chargers Kyle Van Noy and his wife, Marissa, launched the Utah chapter of their charity, the Van Noy Valor Foundation.

The NFL player discussed the foundation’s entrance into the state during an interview with David James and Patrick Kinahan on The Zone Sports Network on Friday, May 13.

Van Noy Valor Foundation

The Chargers linebacker is an alum of Brigham Young University and his wife is a native of Utah. The couple’s lives have been impacted because of adoption and foster care, helping create their desire to start the foundation.

The Van Noy Valor Foundation’s mission is to encourage “personal valor in the lives of adopted children, those in foster care and disadvantaged youth by armoring them with success through resources, mentors and opportunities.”

The Van Noys recently expanded their foundation, which started in 2014, into the Beehive State.

“It’s really big for my wife and I and we want to give back, and we’ve been doing it for a long time now, and we’re very excited to bring it to Utah,” Van Noy said on DJ & PK.

The former BYU star continued by highlighting the foundation’s Valiant Knights program, which is a scholarship and internship set up for youth in foster care.

“Young men and young women that are aging out of foster care, don’t get so much love,” Van Noy said. “They’re kind of left behind in the statistic’s form of like ranges from jail to pregnancy, and we wanted to make a little indent into that. And so we give money to those folks to be able to do internships and scholarships.”

The foundation will support the program and Utah’s youth in foster care by holding a charity golf tournament at Alpine Country Club on May 16.

“All the money that we raise for this golf tournament is going to go to those kids to provide them scholarships and internships so that they can change the course of their lives to be better,” Van Noy highlighted. “A lot of these kids just need some help and a lot of kids want help. And we’re able to give that to them. I mean just the impact in just the couple years that we’ve started this program within our foundation has been amazing.”

DJ & PK can be heard on weekdays from 6-10 a.m. (MDT) on The Zone Sports Network.

About Kyle Van Noy

Prior to his time in the league, Van Noy played at BYU from 2o10-13.

After a standout career at BYU, Van Noy was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Following two and a half seasons with Detroit, the linebacker was traded to New England.

Van Noy played the next three and a half seasons with the Patriots and helped New England win a pair of Super Bowls.

After the 2019 season, the linebacker signed with the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins released Van Noy after one season in South Beach and he returned to New England on a two-year deal.

The 2021 season was the lone year of Van Noy’s second stint with the Patriots.

He signed with the Chargers earlier in May.

In 111 career games, the two-time Super Bowl champ has recorded 424 total tackles, 288 solo tackles, 28.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries, three interceptions, and one touchdown.
