Mountain West Names Utah State’s Scarver As Preseason Special Teams Player Of The Year

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Mountain West Conference announced that Utah State wide receiver and returner Savon Scarver was selected as the league’s Preseason Special Teams Player of the Year.
The honor was bestowed on Scarver on Thursday, July 22.
Scarver has been recognized for his work as a specialist through the offseason.

College Football insider Phil Steele recently selected Scarver as one of his Preseason All-Americans.
Athlon Sports named Scarver to its Third-Team Preseason All-America list as specialist.
During his college career, Scarver has been an outstanding special teams player.
Heās run back 82 kickoffs for 2,294 yards and six touchdowns.

Heās returned at least one kickoff for a score in each of his four seasons in Logan, including a pair of touchdowns during both his 2018 and 2019 seasons.
At receiver, Scarver has made 49 catches for 715 yards and four touchdowns.

Last season, he had five catches for 48 yards and one touchdown. Utah State finished the 2020 campaign with a 1-5 record.
Scarver and the Aggies will look to rebound when they open their 2021 schedule against the Washington State Cougars on September 4.
