Illinois State Big Man Dusan Mahorcic Transfers To Utah Basketball

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Illinois State big man Dusan Mahorcic has decided to transfer to the Utah basketball program on Friday afternoon.

Dusan Mahorcic will join Utah after spending the last season with Illinois State, following two stints in junior college.
When Mahorcic was making his decision, he narrowed his final list down to Utah, Texas and Clemson. He announced his decision via Twitter.

Mahorcic started his career at Lewis where he played 18 games with one start. He averaged 4.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. Mahorcic then decided to go play for Moberly Area where he posted averages of 9.9 points and 6 rebounds per contest, while shooting 59 percent from the field.
This past season for the Redbirds, Mahorcic played in 22 games with 16 starts, while averaging 9.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Illinois State went 7-18 overall and 4-14 in conference play this past season.
Adding Mahorcic to the group will give Craig Smith and his staff a player of need. All of the transfers before Mahorcic has been guards, including Rollie Worster (Utah State), Marco Anthony (Utah State), Bostyn Holt (Coffeyville CC), David Jenkins (UNLV), Gabe Madsen (Cincinnati) and Both Gach (Minnesota).
Before Mahorcic committed to Utah, the Runnin’ Utes were slim at the four and five positions. They have Branden Carlson and Lahat Thioune at center. Mahorcic is just the third player on the roster that is 6’10 or taller.
