While at Utah, Gach played in 57 games with 39 starts. He averaged 9.1 points, 2.5 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game. During his one season at Minnesota, Gach posted averages of 6.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest. He started in 16 of the 29 games played for the Golden Gophers.
His best game as a Runnin’ Ute was when he scored 28 points against Colorado on March 7, 2020. At Minnesota, his best game was against North Dakota when he dropped 21 points on December 4, 2020.
Gach is the sixth player to transfer to Utah while under Craig Smith. He joins Rollie Worster (Utah State), Marco Anthony (Utah State), Bostyn Holt (Coffeyville CC), David Jenkins (UNLV) and Gabe Madsen (Cincinnati).
Gach will be relied upon for his veteran leadership and is expected to be a smoot transition back to the Utes with familiar faces like Riley Battin, Branden Carlson, Lahat Thioune, Jaxon Brenchley and Eli Ballstaedt.
The Austin, Minnesota native built a relationship with Craig Smith that dates back to when he entered the portal from Utah. He listed Utah State among his final schools before choosing Minnesota.
This is a big pickup for Craig Smith and the Utah basketball program.
