Jazz Open Up Game Against Mavericks With Big Run By Scorching Net From Deep

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz got off to a fantastic start in the first quarter against the Dallas Mavericks making 8 threes and finishing with a big run.

The Jazz ended the first quarter against the Mavericks on a 19-3 run and had a 37-12 lead at the break.

Joe Ingles led the way with 10 points, including 2-of-3 shooting from the three-point line. He broke John Stockton’s record for the most threes in Utah Jazz history. Jordan Clarkson knocked down three triples in the opening quarter to add 9 points to the 37 for Utah. Mike Conley and Bojan Bogdanovic each had 5 points. Rudy Gobert and Juwan Morgan chipped in 3 points apiece. Georges Niang scored a bucket as well.

The Jazz went 14-of-26 from the field for 53 percent and 8-for-15 from downtown for 53 percent.

Dallas struggled offensively, shooting 3-of-20 for 15 percent from the floor and 2-for-13 from beyond the arc for 15 percent. The 12 points came from four players. Luka Doncic led with six points, Dorian Finney-Smith had three points, while Josh Richardson added two points and Jalen Brunson had one.

The Mavericks had more turnovers than field goals made with under 10 minutes left in the second quarter. They had 7 turnovers and 5 field goals made.

Utah is searching for their 11th straight win and back-to-back victories over the Mavericks after picking up a 116-104 victory at Vivint Arena on Wednesday, January 27. They are the hottest team in the NBA with the best record in the league at 14-4.

This game marks the end of their six game homestand. The Jazz will be on the road on Sunday, January 31 to face the Denver Nuggets at 1:30 p.m. MST on AT&T SportsNet.
