SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Welcome to KSL Sports Game Night as the Utah Jazz host the Dallas Mavericks for the second game of a two-game series.
The Jazz won game one of the series 116-104 on Wednesday night despite not having the services of either Donovan Mitchell or Derrick Favors.
Entering the night the Jazz own the league’s best record, but could be leaped by the Los Angels Clippers with a win over the Orlando Magic, and a Jazz loss.
The Jazz will once again be without Mitchell as he has yet to clear the NBA’s concussion protocol. Follow this page throughout the night for updates on pregame availability, starting lineups, and highlights throughout the game.
The @utahjazz will get a chance to show off their first place record in front of a national TV audience Friday night against the @dallasmavs.#TakeNote https://t.co/5UaERWp8FZ

Pregame Quotes
Rudy Gobert had his best game of the season in the Jazz last outing, recording a 29 point, 20 rebound double-double. Before Friday’s game, Quin Snyder discussed what makes Gobert so effective in the pick and roll.
“The connectivity that he has and he’s developed with certain guys,” Snyder said. “Whether it’s Joe Ingles on both in tech and role and also in off the ball screening actions. He’s developed that with Mike [Conley] and Donovan in pick and roll, and he understands how he can help our team win.”
The Jazz repeatedly targeted Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis and his pick and roll defense, leading to Gobert’s productive night.
“A lot of times with the way people guard us, that’s the way that he can impact the game,” Snyder said.

First Quarter
- If the Mavericks goal was to slow down Gobert offensively, they have done a poor job. Gobert opens the game with 3 points and 5 rebounds in the first 2:20.
Another quick start for the @utahjazz who lead 12-6 with 7:14 left in the first quarter.
Mike Conley has five points after the Jazz adjusted to the Mavericks tighter defense to open the game. #TakeNote

- Joe Ingles hits two threes early in the first quarter and passed John Stockton for the most threes in team history. Pretty unbelievable for an undrafted scrap heap player.
- The Jazz are up 26-11 with 2:51 left in the first. The defense has held Dallas to 3-14 shooting and forced 5 turnovers in 9:09.
.@Joeingles7 is the three-point 👑 for the @utahjazz.#TakeNote https://t.co/0FRdhZ8gey

- The Jazz are just blowing teams out of the water. The Mavericks had one made 2 pt FG in the first 12 minutes and just two made 3 pt. I really haven’t seen an NBA team dominate like this in a few seasons. What the Jazz are doing is crazy.
The @utahjazz ended the first quarter on a BIG run of 19-3. They made 8⃣ three-pointers in 12 minutes. 🏀🔥#TakeNote https://t.co/zACA9MnCDV

Second Quarter
- Young guys have to find ways to make pays when nothing is run for them. Miye Oni and Juwan Morgan are doing it with hustle. Oni has three offensive rebounds in 3 minutes. Morgan has 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals in 7 minutes, and is +17.
Is it possible the @UtahJazz are really this good?
They're up on the @dallasmavs 42-16 with 9:57 left in the first half.
Also, this game is on national TV.

- Dallas experiencing their best run of play thanks to Luka Doncic who is finding success getting into the paint and either pulling up for mid-range jumpers or kicking out to teammates.
Timeout Quin Snyder is going to challenge an offensive foul call on Joe Ingles.
Looked like a Mavericks flop.
The @utahjazz lead the @dallasmavs 51-32 with 4:15 left in the half. #TakeNote pic.twitter.com/65daRw2Udp

- Dallas is on a 20-9 run and has trimmed the lead to just 15 points. The Jazz are playing with less pace and the shots aren’t falling as easily in the half-court.
- The Mavericks win the third quarter 33-24 and close the game to 16 points at the break. Jazz will have to try to get back to their turnover facing ways that let them build their big lead.
The @dallasmavs have their best quarter of two-game series against the @utahjazz and trail 61-45 going into halftime.
Dallas outscored the Jazz 33-24 in the second quarter, led by Luka Doncic who has a game-high 17 points. #TakeNote pic.twitter.com/87GNPG0PFS

Third Quarter
- The Dallas Mavericks are in the penalty with 8:49 left in the third quarter. That’s going to be tough to erase a 24 point deficit with. Jazz up 71-47.
This game is starting to get a little testy as the @dallasmavs have gotten frustrated by the referees twice in the first 4:30 of the third quarter. @utahjazz up 73-51.
Bojan Bogdanovic leads the Jazz with 15 points. #takeNote
— KSL Sports (@kslsports) January 30, 2021
- This is the most Bogdanovic-esque Bogdanovic has looked since San Antonio. Really quick decisions to shoot and he’s hitting from all over the floor. He’s got 21 points with 4:30 left in the third quarter. 6-10 from the floor and 5-9 from three.
Bojan back?
Bogdanovic has 24 points on 7-11 shooting including 6 made threes.
He's carrying the Jazz in the third quarter. @utahjazz lead the @dallasmavs 87-60. #TakeNote pic.twitter.com/Kr0PCWoYxX

- Bogdanovic continues his hot play and finishes the third quarter with 27 points. Jazz needed it with Doncic finding a spark.
- What are we going to start calling games that the Jazz end after 36 minutes? It feels like it needs a name.
At the end of the third quarter the @utahjazz lead the @dallasmavs 94-68.
Bojan Bogdanovic leads the Jazz with 27 points, while Luka Doncic has 25 for Dallas. #TakeNotepic.twitter.com/wNzHysZ3gB

Fourth Quarter
- Rudy Gobert picked up his fifth foul early in the fourth quarter, so Juwan Morgan will get extended minutes.
- Morgan is +16 in 18 minutes tonight, he’s a nice third big for the Jazz rotation.
Formality minutes for the @utahjazz as they lead the @dallasmavs 101-81 with 7:36 left in the fourth.
Quin Snyder is still playing his starters so it doesn't get closer than 20, but the Jazz are on the verge of their 11th straight win. #TakeNote pic.twitter.com/Ky3wMo6qNs
— KSL Sports (@kslsports) January 30, 2021
- Bogdanovic is up to 30 points for the Jazz. He really ruined a fun night by handing out two assists, but this feels like the same sharp-shooter teh Jazz had last season
- Can you believe it, Mike Conley led the Jazz in plus-minus at +30. He’s unreal.
11 straight.
The @utahjazz beat the @dallasmavs 120-101.
Another blow out as the team sweeps their six game home stand and head to Denver for a big game Sunday.
Bogdanovic led the Jazz with 32 points. #takeNote
