Utah State Sweeps Regular Season Series Against SDSU With Second Half Comeback

LOGAN, Utah – The Utah State men’s basketball team bounced back from a halftime deficit to defeat the San Diego State and sweep the regular season series against the Aztecs.

The Aggies hosted the Aztecs on Saturday, January 16.

After trailing by 10 points following the first 20 minutes of game time, USU outscored SDSU in the second half, 42-27.

The Aggies won the contest, 64-59.

The Aggies complete the second half comeback and sweep the regular season series against the Aztecs.

Steven Ashworth led Utah State with 17 points on 3-8 shooting, including 3-6 from three.

Aggie starters Neemias Queta and Brock Miller combined for 21 points.

Queta added 10 rebounds, four assists, one steal, and five blocks.

USU finished the contest shooting 37.3 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from distance.

The Aztecs shot 41.1 percent overall and 31.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Terrell Gomez led San Diego State with 16 points.

SDSU closes out the first half on a 22-5 run. The Aggies were held scoreless during the final 4:55 of the half.

With the win, the Aggies improved to 11-3 on the season and 8-0 in Mountain West Conference play.

It was USU’s 10th consecutive win.

The Aggies’ last loss came in their fourth game of the season on December 5, 2020.
