SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah quarterback Jake Bentley has reportedly entered the transfer portal.
This doesn’t come as a surprise if the report is true since Bentley was benched late in the second quarter of Utah’s last regular season game against Washington State.
Rivals Portal on Twitter reported the news that Bentley entered his name in the NCAA Transfer Portal.
2016 4-star QB Jake Bentley, who transferred to Utah from South Carolina earlier this year, has entered the portal as a grad transfer; in 5 games this season he passed for 882 yards and 6 TD with #GoUtes @rivalsmike @RivalsWoody @AMarkhamRivalshttps://t.co/m3RoPnEvdi

Going into the 2020 season, Bentley was beat out by Cameron Rising for the starting quarterback job. Rising suffered a season-ending injury early in the second quarter in their season opener against USC. The South Carolina graduate transfer was inserted as the starter until the final regular season game.
Through five games played, Bentley completed 77 of his 124 pass attempts for 882 yards, 6 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, while rushing for 113 yards and a TD.
Bentley was a three-year starter for South Carolina before suffering a season-ending injury in his senior year. He threw for 7,527 yards, 55 touchdowns and 32 interceptions with the Gamecocks.
This news comes after the Utes picked up two transfer QB’s in 2020 four-star dual threat Ja’Quinden Jackson from Texas and four-year Baylor starter Charlie Brewer.
