PROVO, Utah – BYU football added its eighth commitment in the class of 2021 in linebacker Nathan Hoke from North Allegheny High School in Pennsylvania.

Hoke is the son to former BYU and Pittsburgh Steeler great Chris Hoke who has maintained a close relationship with the football program since his playing days concluded in 2000. Last year, the elder Hoke ran out the alumni flag at BYU’s game against Toledo.

Nathan is the second son of Chris Hoke to commit to Kalani Sitake’s BYU program. The other is Cade Hoke, a preferred walk-on, who is currently serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Hoke received a scholarship offer from BYU and made his commitment to the Cougars official on social media Monday.

“The recruiting process has been an awesome experience for me,” wrote Hoke on social media. “I would like to thank all the coaches that took time to recruit me and believed in me as a player. I would also like to thank all my family, friends, and coaches that have supported me throughout my years in football. I would also like to thank my Heavenly Father for guiding and protecting me throughout my whole life. With all that being said I am happy to announce that after receiving an official scholarship offer I will be committing to my dream school, Brigham Young University! Go Cougs!”

Hoke projects to be a linebacker for the Cougars but also has the build to add weight and move to defensive end in his career.

According to Max Preps, Hoke had 62 tackles and eight sacks last season for North Allegheny. Along with BYU, Air Force, Army, Akron, and Central Michigan extended scholarship offers to Hoke.
