Five Utah Football Players Named AP All-Americans

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Associated Press released their All-Americans following the 2019 college football regular season and five players from the University of Utah received recognition.

The AP released their three teams that are filled with the best players in college football.

Utah cornerback Jaylon Johnson and safety Julian Blackmon were named second team All-Americans. Running back Zack Moss, defensive end Bradlee Anae and defensive tackle Leki Fotu were named to the third team.

Earlier on Monday, Anae was named and ESPN All-American.

Other recognition for Anae includes first team All-Pac-12, first team Walter Camp All-American as well as the first team for Sports Illustrated and USA Today, while receiving second team honors from The Athletic and CBS Sports.

Johnson was named Walter Camp All-American second team along with Sports Illustrated and USA Today, while Pro Football Focus named him to the third team. The star cornerback was also a first team All-Pac-12 honoree.

Fotu was named first team All-Pac-12 and Walter Camp first team All-American.

Blackmon has been named first team All-American by Sports Illustrated, The Athletic and Pro Football Focus, with USA Today putting him on the second team.

Moss has been named to the first team by Pro Football Focus and the second team by CBS Sports.

Other than the five Utah players, the Pac-12 had 8 players named an AP All-American. Oregon offensive lineman Penei Sewell and California linebacker Evan Weaver were named to the first team. Oregon offensive lineman Shane Lemieux, Washington tight end Hunter Bryant, USC wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and Oregon State linebacker Hamicar Rashed Jr. was named to the second team. Oregon offensive lineman Calvin Throckmorton and Arizona State wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was named to the third team.

Utah will be playing Texas in the Alamo Bowl, which will take place on Tuesday, December 31 at 5:30 p.m. in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
