Anae is the eighth Ute to receive first team honors joining Jordan Gross in 2002, Louie Sakoda in 2008, Shaky Smithson in 2010, Star Lotulelei in 2012, Tom Hackett in 2014 and 2015, Nate Orchard in 2014, and Mitch Wishnowsky in 2016.
Fotu and Johnson join seven other Utes that were named to the second team, including Alex Smith in 2004, Eric Weddle in 2006, Zane Beadles in 2009, Caleb Schlauderaff in 2010, Hunter Dimick in 2016, Matt Gay in 2017 and Wishnowsky in 2017 and 2018.
Anae was honored with the Morris Award, which is given to the most outstanding defensive lineman (and offensive lineman) in the Pac-12. He was also a finalist for the Ted Hendricks Award and earned semifinalist honors for the Lombardi and Bednarik awards. The senior from Hawaii was also named first team All-Pac-12 for the second time in his career. He finished the 2019 regular season with 12.5 sacks and 29.5 career sacks, tying the school record with Hunter Dimick.
Fotu was also named first team All-Pac-12 for the second time in his career. He had 8.5 tackles for loss and one sack to go with his two pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Johnson ranks fourth in the Pac-12 with 13 pass deflections and is third in the conference with 11 total pass breakups. He has two interceptions this season, including a pick six against Washington. Also, Johnson received his second first team All-Pac-12 honor.
The Walter Camp All-America team is one of the five teams used by the NCAA to determine the season’s consensus All-Americans. The others are the Sporting News, Associated Press, Football Writers Association and American Football Coaches Association.
