4A High School Basketball Tournament Quarterfinals Wrap Up

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The quarterfinal round of the 4A tournament features four games from the campus of Southern Utah University.
The tournament started with 16 teams with only 8 schools remaining that all have the same goal, winning a state championship.
Here are the results from the action at the America First Events Center in Cedar City, Utah:
Sky View 58 – Dixie 48
Sky View had a hot start by jumping out to an 18-8 lead after the first quarter. Dixie countered with a 14-10 second quarter to trail 28-22 at halftime. The Flyers trimmed the lead even more in the third quarter as they trailed by two entering the final period. Sky View took over in the fourth quarter by outscoring Dixie 15-7 to take the win.
Sam Phipps led Sky View with 17 points, while future Utah Utes basketball player Mason Falslev chipped in 15 points.
Hayden Cottle had 19 points for Dixie.
UP NEXT: Sky View will face Payson in the semifinals on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Payson 76 – Green Canyon 74
The game was tied at 62 with 5 minutes left when Green Canyon hit a big three-pointer to give them the lead. Down by three with one minute left, Green Canyon nailed a triple to tie the game. Payson took the lead late but Green Canyon hit two free throws to tie the game with 13 seconds left. Payson converted a layup to take the lead with 4 seconds left. Green Canyon missed the potential game-winning three pointer.
Logan Sorensen led all scorers with 21 points, Connor Bateman poured in 17 points, while Hayden Roundy and Samuel Mitchell scored 16 points apiece for Payson.
Green Canyon had five of their six players score in double figures, led by Dewey Panter with 18 points. Carter Berish nailed 5 three-pointers to bring his scoring total to 16 points. McKay Yorgason had 12 points, while Carter Maughan and Kasen Holbrook each scored 10 points.

Orem 80 – Bear River 56
Bear River had a five point lead entering the fourth quarter. Early in the final period, Orem’s Puka Nacua fouled out and received a technical foul heading to the bench. Moments later, he was seen crossing the court to confront a Bear River player, leading to his ejection. Bear River outscored Orem 34-15 in the fourth quarter to advance to the semifinals.
Mark Huber dropped 21 points, while Wyatt Roholt chipped in 19 points. Ren Fonnesbeck had 18 points and Parker Coombs finished with 13 points.
Orem was led by Carter Nehmer with 16 points, Nacua recorded 11 points and Ike Richards posted 12 points.

Bonneville 60 – Pine View 46
Both teams had a difficult time scoring in the opening period with each team scoring 9 points. Bonneville outscored Pine View 20-12 in the second quarter but the Panthers did fold as they countered with a 17-12 third quarter. The Lakers took the game by finishing the final period on a 19-8 run.
Zach Alspaugh finished with 21 points to lead the Lakers, while Hank Bushell dropped 14.
Jared Koller scored 19 points to lead Pine View and Taiven Shepherd chipped in 13 points.
