Timpview Flies Past Orem, Into 5A Championship Game

SALT LAKE CITY – The Timpview Thunderbirds flew past the Orem Tigers on Game Night Live to earn a spot in the 5A championship game against the top-seeded Lehi Pioneers.
The T-Birds and Tigers played at Rice-Eccles Stadium, home of the University of Utah’s football program, on Friday, November 11.
Timpview beat Orem, 48-32.
First Half
The first score of the game came on a 13-yard touchdown run by Tru To’a to give the Orem Tigers a 7-0 lead with 5:02 remaining in the first quarter.

Timpview answered with a 19-yard touchdown pass from Helman Casuga to Quezon Villa to tie the game at seven with 3:12 remaining in the first quarter.

Timpview took their first lead of the game when Micah Beckstead ran in a 25-yard touchdown. The Thunderbirds held a 14-7 lead with 5:50 remaining in the second quarter.

Just before halftime, Orem made a 28-yard field goal and Timpview held a 14-10 lead at the break.
Second Half
Early in the third quarter, Jaycob Amodo of Orem suffered an injury and had to be carted off the field.
Later in the quarter, Micah Beckstead ran in a touchdown. Timpview took a 28-10 lead with 8:12 left in the third quarter.

Orem answered with a three-yard touchdown pass from Lance Reynolds to Eniasi Matina. Timpview’s lead was cut to 28-17 with 2:20 remaining in the third quarter.

Timpview started to put the game out of reach with a 92-yard kick return for a touchdown by Quezon Villa. The Thunderbirds had a 35-17 lead with 2:06 left in the third quarter.

Orem wasn’t throwing in the towel as they drove down the field on their next drive which resulted in a touchdown. The Tigers cut the deficit to 35-25 after getting the two-point conversion on a pass from Lance Reynolds to Asher Young with 11:53 remaining in the game.
Timpview answered with another touchdown run by Micah Beckstead, his fourth total TD of the game to give the Thunderbirds a 42-25 lead with 6:30 left in the game.
Villa scored a touchdown during the final minute of action to seal the big victory for the T-Birds.
Timpview will advance to the 5A Championship and will face No. 1 Lehi on Friday, November 18 at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The game will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. MT on KSLSports.com.
