No. 2 Timpview Flies Into 5A Semifinals With Rout Of No. 23 Wasatch

SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 2 Timpview Thunderbirds flew past the No. 23 Wasatch Wasps with a big quarterfinal victory on Game Night Live.
The Thunderbirds hosted the Wasps at Mountain View High School on Friday, November 4.
Timpview soundly defeated Wasatch, 63-21.

The T-Birds struck first on a touchdown pass from Helaman Casuga to Micah Beckstead with 8:42 remaining in the opening quarter.
37 seconds later, the Wasps responded on a 65-yard touchdown catch by Tavian Edwards.
After Wasatch’s first points of the afternoon, Timpview took control of the contest.
The Thunderbirds went on to score 56 unanswered points before a couple of late touchdowns by the Wasps.
With 1:58 left in the first quarter, Casuga connected with Isaiah Vaea for 39 yards and six points.
Kerven Tua’one and Beckstead each scored rushing touchdowns late in the quarter to help the T-Birds take a 28-7 lead into the second quarter.
With 10:02 to go in the first half, Casuga hit Jared Esplin for a 35-yard touchdown pass.
Less than four minutes later, Timpview’s freshman gunslinger tossed another deep ball Quezon Villa to give the Thunderbirds a 42-7 lead with 6:31 until halftime.
With 2:40 remaining in the half, Luke Atuaia found paydirt and a 49-7 advantage for the T-Birds.
At the 1:11 mark of the second quarter, Villa burst into the end zone for a touchdown and the Thunderbirds took a 56-7 lead into the locker room at the break.
The rout is on. The Thunderbirds are up big at the break.

The Thunderbirds added to their total on their opening drive of the second half with another Tua’one touchdown run. The score gave Timpview a 63-7 lead with 8:53 remaining in the third quarter.
With 5:26 left in the game, Chris Cook found the end zone for Wasatch’s second score of the game and cut Timpview’s advantage to 63-14.
Three minutes later, the Wasps scored again on a connection between Mack Kelson and Crew Erickson for Wasatch’s third touchdown.
With the win, the Thunderbirds improved their record to 9-2 this season. Wasatch finished the year with a 5-7 record.
Timpview advanced to the 5A semifinals and will face the winner of No. 11 Orem and No. 19 Alta on Friday, November 11 at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Kickoff is at 2:00 p.m. (MDT) on KSLSports.com.
