Late Touchdown Lifts No. 1 Lehi Past No. 4 Timpview

SALT LAKE CITY – It was a battle of two top-five teams in the state with No. 1 Lehi pulling off a 28-24 win over No. 4 Timpview at home on Thursday night.

#4 Timpview 24 @ #1 Lehi 28 (Thurs.)

The Pioneers started the game with a touchdown pass from Jackson Brousseau to Max Lyman. Timpview took over with a field goal and two touchdowns. The first score was a pass from Quezon Villa to Isaiah Vaea and the second one was an 85-yard run by Micah Beckstead. With Timpview holding a 15-7 lead, Brousseau threw a TD to Stockton Cram, followed by a rushing touchdown by the Pioneers. With four minutes left in the game and Lehi holding the lead, Vaea ran in a touchdown to put Timpview ahead. With under two minutes remaining, Brousseau connected with Kolton Tanner.

Here are all of the results in the 5A classification from the ninth week of the 2022 high school football season.

Region 5

Viewmont 19 @ Woods Cross 31 (Fri.)

The Woods Cross Wildcats ran past the Viewmont Vikings on Friday evening, 31-19. At halftime, the Vikings owned a 19-17 lead. However, in the second half, the Wildcats pitched a shutout while scoring a pair of touchdowns. Bradley Bailey led Woods Cross with two rushing scores. With the win, the Wildcats improved to 6-3 and the Vikings fell to a 4-5 record.

Northridge 16 @ #15 Bountiful 24 (Fri.)

The No. 15 Bountiful Redhawks fought off the Northridge Knights, 24-16. After Bountiful took a 21-3 lead into the fourth quarter, Northridge attempted a comeback with a 13-point fourth quarter. However, the Redhawks were able to fend off the Knights. Owen Geilman accounted for a pair of Bountiful touchdowns. With the result, the Redhawks improved to a 7-2 record and the Knights dropped to 2-7.

Region 6

Murray 0 @ #14 East 55 (Thurs.)

The lone passing touchdown came from Tucker McCormick to Kevin Doe. Amini Amone found the end zone three times on the ground. Marcus Loertscher and Michael Fonua each added a rushing touchdown for the Leopards. Both Zion Andreasonen and Fatusama Sekona-Mapa recorded a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Olympus 17 @ Highland 16 (Thurs.)

The Titans jumped out to a 10-0 lead on a touchdown pass from Jack Evans to Luke Bryant, along with a field goal. Highland answered with a touchdown pass from Peizge Mailei to Cooper Jones. The Rams took the lead late in the second quarter as U Figiel found Jeremiah Jimoh for a touchdown. Highland extended their lead to 16-10 with a safety. In the final minute of the game, Olympus scored a rushing touchdown.

Skyline 15 @ #17 Park City 28 (Fri.)

The No. 17 Park City Miners took down the Skyline Eagles on Friday night, 28-15. Park City scored a touchdown every quarter of the game and limited the Eagles to only two scores. Park City’s Chase Beyer had three rushing touchdowns. With the result, the Miners improved to 7-2 and the Eagles fell to 4-5.

Region 7

#6 Stansbury 52 @ #22 Payson 14 (Thurs.)

Ezra Harris threw four touchdowns, all going to Dylan Hamilton. Harris also had a rushing touchdown, as did Luke Daynes and Brock Wilson. For Payson, Dylan Wall threw two touchdowns, connecting with Cooper Swasey and Remek Renzello.

Timpanogos 34 @ Tooele 7 (Thurs.)

Chase Riggs threw three touchdowns, finding Donovan Holloway, Stratton Lewis, and Josh Graf. Easton Bretzing and Luke Livingston each ran in touchdowns for the Timberwolves. Tooele’s lone touchdown came on a run from Lucas Rydalch.

Cedar Valley 32 @ Mountain View 7 (Thurs.)

Mountain View scored first on a touchdown run by Carter Burgi. Then it was all Cedar Valley. Cooper Thomson’s lone TD pass went to Issac Cline. Kody Whited and Joe Lomu each ran in a touchdown for the Aviators.

Uintah 42 @ Hillcrest 35 (Fri.)

The Uintah Utes fought off the Hillcrest Huskies on Friday, 42-35. Chase Harding account for four of Uintah’s touchdowns. He had two passing touchdowns and two rushing scores. With the result, the Utes improved to 3-6 and the Huskies dropped to 0-9.

Region 8

Jordan 7 @ Alta 56 (Thurs.)

Alta scored 14 points in the first quarter, 28 points in the second, and 14 in the third before Jordan scored their only touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter.

Region 9

#10 Springville 49 @ Salem Hills 14 (Thurs.)

Ryder Burton threw four touchdown passes, all going to Luke Nadauld. Hunter Perrero also caught a touchdown. The Red Devils had two rushing touchdowns from Tevita Valeti. Salem Hills had a rushing TD from Jedi Nelson and a pick-six by Aiden Haskell.

Maple Mountain 0 @ #23 Spanish Fork 48 (Thurs.)

Will Dart threw three touchdowns, connecting with Ty Bona, Gabe Ashworth, and Sai Maugh. Clay Feliuai, Trevin Rudd, Joshua Buck, and Teni Worthen each ran in a touchdown for the Dons.

Wasatch 13 @ Provo 42 (Fri.)

The Provo Bulldogs beat the Wasatch Wasps, 42-13. Provo’s Kyson Condie threw three touchdown passes in the Bulldogs blowout over the Wasps. Jamison Harward scored two touchdowns for Provo. With the result, the Bulldogs improved to 6-3 and the Wasps fell to 3-6 this season.

Non-Region

Clearfield (6A) 14 @ #9 Brighton 55 (Thurs.)

It was all Brighton from the opening kickoff. Jack Johnson passed for four touchdowns, two to Nash Matheson and two to Donovan Wismer. Kace Gurr ran for three touchdowns, while Dylan Olsen added one TD on the ground.

Taylorsville (6A) 3 @ Orem 52 (Thurs.)

Lance Reynolds threw three touchdown passes, two to Cole Johnson and one to Asher Young. Feleti Iongi had two rushing TD’s, while Konrad Taotua added one score on the ground. Natane Fakahafua recorded a pick-six.
