Aimaq Notches NCAA-Leading 25th Double-Double In Utah Valley Win

SALT LAKE CITY – Fardaws Aimaq finished with 20 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Wolverines over California Baptist 63-54.
The Wolverines (10-6, 19-9) hosted the Lancers (5-11, 15-14) at the UCCU Center in Orem, UT on Saturday, February 26.

The Wolverines trailed briefly to begin the first half, but a 12-0 Utah Valley run opened up a 16-7 advantage with 8:54 left in the half.
California Baptist went 7-28 from the field and shot an abysmal 18 percent from three in the opening half.

After being limited to five first half points, Aimaq made a concerted effort to reach the free throw line, finishing the second half 7-7 from the stripe. He would go on to score 15 second points on his way to a team high 20.
Trey Farrer finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Taran Armstrong led the Lancers with 22 points.
Utah Valley will finish their regular season schedule on the road as they travel to Phoenix, AZ to face the Grand Canyon Antelopes on Thursday, March 3 before wrapping up the 2021-22 regular season against New Mexico State on Saturday, March 5. Tipoff for Thursday’s game is scheduled for 7 p.m. (MDT)
