SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Valley Wolverines posted a great second half performance to take down Tarleton State 69-56 on the road on Wednesday night.

Fardaws Aimaq led Utah Valley with 22 points and 20 rebounds as the Wolverines picked up their second straight win after beating Tarleton State. Blaze Nield poured in 12 points, while Tim Fuller added 10 points.

Connor Harding and Jaden McClanahan scored nine points apiece. The game was tied at 35 at the halftime break before the Wolverines outscored the Texans 34-21 in the second half.

UVU shot 49% from the field and 36% from the three-point line.

“Jaden McClanahan came in and gave us such a spark,” said Utah Valley head coach Mark Madsen. “To go a perfect 2 of 2 from three and to have four assists without a turnover is great. His energy is infectious. He got guys easy shots at the basket. Obviously Fardaws with the 22 points and 20 rebounds. He’s gotten himself in such tremendous shape and to go out there and being able to play 36 minutes is phenomenal. I was proud of our guys tonight. We had really good energy. It’s tough to win on the road and to get the first game of a two-game road trip is big for us.”

Freddy Hicks and Montre Gipson led Tarleton State with 14 points apiece. Javontae Hopkins added 10 points. The Texans shot 33% from the floor and just 25% from beyond the arc.

The Wolverines picked up the win despite turning the ball over 21 times and TSU scoring 21 points off of those miscues. Tarleton State committed just eight turnovers. Also a big difference on the stat sheet was the rebounding battle with UVU pulling down 45 to TSU’s 21.

Utah Valley improved their record to 17-8 overall and 8-5 in WAC play. They will head to St. George to face Dixie State on Saturday, February 19 at 7 p.m. MT on ESPN+.
