New York Jets Signs Former BYU DB Off 49ers’ Practice Squad

SALT LAKE CITY – The New York Jets announced the signing of a former BYU Cougars defensive back off the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad.
New York signed former BYU safety Kai Nacua on Thursday, December 23.
Prior to joining the Jets, Nacua was a member of the Niners’ practice squad.

About Kai Nacua
Prior to his time in the NFL, Nacua played defensive back at BYU from 2013-16.
During his time with the Cougars, Nacua had 158 total tackles, 111 solo tackles, eight tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and 14 interceptions.
The safety joined the Cleveland Browns shortly after going undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft.
During his rookie campaign, Nacua played in 16 games, including three starts.
Since then, the defensive back has spent time with the Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts, and 49ers.

He owns career starts of 15 total tackles and 13 solo tackles in 21 games played.
The Jets currently own a 3-11 record this season.
New York’s next game is against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, December 26 at 11 a.m. (MDT) on FOX.
