San Francisco 49ers Promote Former BYU DB Kai Nacua To Active Roster

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The San Francisco 49ers announced the promotion of former BYU safety Kai Nacua from the team’s practice squad to the 53-man active roster.
Nacua was elevated on Wednesday, December 2.
In addition to promoting Nacua from the practice squad, the Niners activated multiple players off the organization’s Reserve/COVID-19 List.

Nacua first joined the 49ers’ practice squad on November 24.
The Niners currently own a 5-6 record and are in fourth place in the NFC West.

San Francisco’s next game is against the Buffalo Bills on Monday, December 7.
The 49ers and Bills are scheduled to kick-off at 6:15 p.m. (MDT) on ESPN.
About Kai Nacua
Prior to his time in the NFL, Nacua played defensive back at BYU from 2013-16.
During his time in Provo, Nacua had 158 total tackles, 111 solo tackles, eight tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and 14 interceptions.
The safety joined the Cleveland Browns shortly after going undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft.
During his rookie campaign, Nacua played in 16 games, including three starts. He finished the 2017 season with 14 total tackles and 12 solo tackles.
The Browns waived Nacua in April 2018.
Since then, the defensive back has spent time with the Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, and Indianapolis Colts.
He has not appeared in a regular-season game since 2017.
