SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson didn’t suit up and won’t play in the New York Jets’ final preseason game.
The Jets hosted the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, August 27.
After playing and starting at quarterback in New York’s first two preseason contests, Wilson was out of the lineup against the Eagles.
Wilson’s absence was not due to injury.
The former BYU quarterback’s next game will be Week 1 of the NFL regulars season.

Fellow Jets quarterback Mike White joined Wilson in not dressing in uniform against the Eagles.
Without Wilson and White, the Jets stared veteran Josh Johnson.
The former BYU star was selected by the Jets with the No. 2 overall pick in April’s 2021 NFL Draft.
Through the first two weeks of the preseason, albeit exhibition contests, Wilson proved why New York drafted him with second pick.
In Wilson’s first preseason game, he was 6/9 passing for 63 yards and the led the Jets to a field goal against the crosstown New York Giants. More important that his stats, Wilson looked poised and in control during his first game time as an NFL player.
Wilson took another positive step in New York’s second preseason.
The rookie QB was 9/11 passing for 128 yards and threw his two touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers. He recorded a near perfect 154.7 rating vs. Green Bay.
