New York Jets QB Zach Wilson Becomes Face Of NFL’s Social Media

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The NFL made former BYU and current New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson the face of one of the league’s social media accounts.
Wilson recently took over as the header photo for the league’s official Twitter account.
Right above the league’s @NFL username and shield logo, Twitter users could see a photo of the Jets rookie quarterback as of the afternoon on Sunday, August 22.
Wilson trended on social media following his excellent Week 2 preseason performance the day before.

The former BYU star was selected by the Jets with the No. 2 overall pick in April’s 2021 NFL Draft.
Since he was drafted, Wilson has been a polarizing athlete amongst NFL fans and talking heads in sports media.
With the highest draft selections comes great expectations for the former Cougar, expectations like being on the faces of the NFL.
Through the first two weeks of the preseason, albeit exhibition contests, Wilson has proved why New York drafted him with second pick.
In Wilson’s first preseason game, he was 6/9 passing for 63 yards and the led the Jets to a field goal against the crosstown New York Giants. More important that his stats, Wilson looked poised and in control during his first game time as an NFL player.
The former BYU gunslinger took another positive step in New York’s second preseason.
Wilson was 9/11 passing for 128 yards and threw his two touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers. He recorded a near perfect 154.7 rating during his time on the gridiron.

While Wilson has yet to play against a complete first-string defense in a regular season game, the rookie has given football fans a lot to be excited about, excitement that the NFL is leaning into as shown by their Twitter account.
New York’s final preseason game is against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, August 27 at 5:30 p.m. (MDT).
Wilson and the Jets start the regular season on the road against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, September 12 at 11 a.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on CBS.
