Urban Meyer Names Trevor Lawrence Jaguars’ Starting QB For 2021 Opener

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Utes and current first-time NFL head coach Urban Meyer named Trevor Lawrence as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ starting quarterback to open the 2021 regular season.
Meyer announced Lawrence as Jacksonville’s QB1 on Wednesday, August 25.
“Trevor’s gonna be the starter Week 1,” Meyer said.
The Jaguars selected Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The former Clemson star has appeared in both of Jacksonville’s preseason games in August. Lawrence was a combined 20/32 for 184 yards and no touchdowns.
Lawrence and the Jaguars have one more preseason game remaining.
The Jaguars’ final exhibition game of the preseason is against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, August 29 at 11 a.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on the NFL Network.
Jacksonville begins the regular season on the road against the Houston Texans on Sunday, September 12 at 11 a.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on CBS.
