Utah QB Charlie Brewer Named To Maxwell Award Watchlist
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah senior quarterback Charlie Brewer has been named to the Maxwell Award watchlist, which was announced on Monday morning.
Charlie Brewer is entering his first season with Utah football after four seasons at Baylor and is now on the Maxwell Award watchlist. The Maxwell Award is given annually to the college football player judged by a panel of sportscasters, sportswriters and National Collegiate Athletic Association head coaches and the membership of the Maxwell Football Club.
The most recent Maxwell Award went to Heisman Trophy winner and Alabama WR DeVonta Smith.
While at Baylor, Brewer played in 44 games with 39 starts. He threw for 9,700 yards and 65 touchdowns in four seasons. During the Utah spring game, Brewer completed all 15 of his pass attempts for 151 yards and two touchdowns.
Other preseason recognition Brewer has received this offseason includes Athlon Sports Preseason All-Pac-12 fourth team. Brewer will battle Cameron Rising for the starting quarterback position during fall camp.
Utah will start the 2021 season on Thursday, September 2 at Rice-Eccles Stadium against Weber State. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. MDT and will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
