SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah football Head Coach Kyle Whittingham has once again praised quarterback Charlie Brewer in a recent interview with Pro Football Focus.
“The first adjective used when describing Charlie is toughness,” Whittingham said. “He has a great deal of toughness and competitiveness, he is a guy that’s just driven. He has only been here six months now but he has had a tremendous impact in the time that he has been here.”
Just when you thought Whittingham was going to continue praising Brewer, he stopped.

“All that being said he [Brewer] is going to have a challenge with Cam Rising during this fall camp,” Whittingham pronounced.
The news coming out of the Utah football camp has been nothing but praise for Brewer since his arrival earlier this year. Although, Brewer conducted spring ball without the pressure of 2020 starter Cam Rising who was recovering from a serious shoulder injury that he sustained in the first quarter of the first game a year ago.
Whittingham quickly returned to praising Brewer, after he made sure to inform the listeners that there will be a quarterback battle in fall camp.
“He just has that ‘it’ factor that you’re looking for in a quarterback,” Whittingham stated when referring back to Brewer’s ability. “He is the type of guy that the other players rally around, they believe in him and he just exudes confidence. He has got that field general mentality.”
