SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau earned the most Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR)points on the PGA Tour during the months of January and February.
Finau has been playing exceptionally well, as his OWGR would suggest.
Year To Date
His year began at the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii where he finished in a tie for 31st. Three weeks later, Finau returned at The American Express and ended in solo 4th.
However, at the Farmers Insurance Open, Saudi International, and Genesis Open, Finau finished in lone second place or in a tie for second.
At the Genesis Open, Finau lost to Max Homa in a playoff.
Finally, to conclude the month of February, Finau finished in a tie for 14th at the World Golf Challenge Workday Championship.
These are the top #OWGR point earners during Jan & Feb 2021:
1. Tony Finau, 111.90🇺🇸
2. Collin Morikawa, 94.23🇺🇸
3. Brooks Koepka, 92.45🇺🇸
4. Max Homa, 84.28🇺🇸
5. Viktor Hovland, 78.34🇳🇴
6. Dustin Johnson, 73.27🇺🇸
7. Patrick Reed, 72.64🇺🇸
8. Xander Schauffele, 71.67🇺🇸— Golf Statz (@GolfStatz) March 1, 2021
Career Best Form
Finau has never played as well as he has through the first two months of 2021. However, the pressure continues to mount on the shoulders of Finau who only has won once on the PGA Tour. That lone victory came back in 2016 when he clinched the Puerto Rico Open. Since then, however, he has the most top 5’s, 10’s and 25’s of any player on the PGA Tour without winning during that stretch.
Nonetheless, with the major golf season quickly approaching, Finau could not be happier with how he is striking the golf ball. All facets of his game continue to develop and improve and he is poised to contend for many tournaments in the near future.
Finau Update
Finau is taking the week off from tournament play and preparing for the following week when he will be in the field for The Players Championship at TPC at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
