Dixie State Defeats Cal Baptist For First WAC Win

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Dixie State men’s basketball team beat the California Baptist Lancers to earn their first-ever Western Athletic Conference win.
The Lancers hosted the Trailblazers on Saturday, January 30.
Four Dixie State players scored in double figures in a 79-75 victory. It was the school’s first win as a member of the WAC.
Dixie State first joined the conference during the summer of 2020.

In addition to Gooden’s total, Jarod Greene, Hunter Schofield, and Frank Staine each scored 11 points or more.

The Blazers and Lancers battled throughout the contest. Dixie State won the game behind a slim margin of plus two points in each half.
Dixie State ended the contest shooting 46.3 percent overall and 41.2 percent from three.

Cal Baptist finished shooting 47.4 percent from the field, including 43.5 percent from downtown.
With the win, the Trailblazers improved to a record of 5-8 on the season and 1-5 in WAC games.

Dixie State’s next game is against Seattle on Friday, February 5 at 7 p.m. (MDT).
