Dixie State Falls To California Baptist For Seventh Straight Loss

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Dixie State Trailblazers lost their seventh straight game after falling to California Baptist 89-74 on the road on Friday night.
Dixie State trailed by six points at the half but California Baptist outscored the Trailblazers 48-39 in the second half. The Lancers shot 51 percent (30-59) from the field, 42 percent (13-31) from the three-point line and 76 percent (16-21) from the free throw line.
The Trailblazers made 40 percent (27-67) of their field goals, 24 percent (5-21) of their three-point shots and 79 percent (15-19) of their free throws.
Hunter Schofield led all scorers with 23 points, along with 9 rebounds and 4 assists, while shooting 8-of-15 from the field. Frank Staine and Cameron Gooden each added 17 points. The trio combined for 57 of their 74 points.

Meanwhile, California Baptist played 8 players with 6 of them scoring in double figures. Ty Rowell led the way with 18 points. Reed Nottage and Elijah Thomas contributed 16 points apiece. Tre Armstrong had 14 points, while Gorjok Gak and Mark Carbone each had 11 points.
California Baptist committed 13 turnovers, while Dixie State had just 10 but CBU had 14 points off of those turnovers.
The Trailblazers dropped to 4-8 overall and 0-5 in Western Athletic Conference play. These two teams will play again on Saturday, January 30 at 7 p.m. MST on the WAC Digital Network in Riverside, California.
