Dixie State Drops Fifth Straight Game In Loss To Grand Canyon

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Dixie State men’s basketball team suffered its fifth consecutive defeat in a three-point loss to the Grand Canyon Antelopes.
The Trailblazers hosted the Antelopes on Friday, January 22.
Dixie State’s Hunter Schofield and Cameron Gooden combined for 25 points but it wasn’t enough to take down Grand Canyon.
The Antelopes beat the Blazers, 77-74.

After owning a 33-30 lead at the halftime break, Dixie State was outscored by six points in the second half.
Grand Canyon outrebounded Dixie State, 41-30, including a plus-seven advantage on the offensive glass. The Antelopes made the most of the extra opportunities.
Dixie State suffered the loss despite owning an advantage in field goal percentage, three-point percentage, assists, and turnovers.

The Blazers ended the contest shooting 45.2 percent overall and 38.1 percent from downtown.
The Antelopes shot 43.5 percent from the field, including 34.8 percent from beyond the arc.

Grand Canyon had four players score in double figures.
With the loss, the Trailblazers fell to 4-6 on the season and 0-3 in Western Athletic Conference play.
