Weber State Cruises To Blowout Win Over Southern Utah

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State Wildcats cruised to a blowout 91-67 win over the Southern Utah Thunderbirds on Thursday night after a strong first half.
Weber State had a lead of 25-8 in the first half before taking a 47-27 advantage to the halftime break over Southern Utah. The Wildcats shot 59 percent (19-32) from the field in the opening half, while SUU struggled, shooting just 29 percent from the floor.
Four Weber State players scored in double figures, led by Cody Carlson with 25 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and one block. Isiah Brown added 22 points, 4 boards and 7 assists. Dontay Bassett chipped in 12 points and 4 blocks, while Michal Kozak poured in 11 points.
The Wildcats finished shooting 57 percent (31-54) from the floor, 43 percent (10-23) from the three-point line and 73 percent (19-26) from the free throw line.

Just two Southern Utah players reached double figures, led by Maizen Fausett with 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field. Dre Marin added 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
Tevian Jones and Harrison Butler chipped in 9 points apiece. The Thunderbirds shot 34 percent (23-66) from the field, 22 percent (6-27) from beyond the arc and 75 percent (15-20) from the free throw line.

Weber State improved their record to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in Big Sky play. Southern Utah dropped to 10-3 overall and 5-2 in conference play. These two teams will meet again, this time in Cedar City on Saturday, January 23 at 12 p.m. MST on Pluto TV 1055.
