Weber State Takes Down Tarleton State With Second Half Surge

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State Wildcats needed a big second half but they were able to defeat Tarleton State 94-79 at home on Sunday evening.
Weber State outscored Tarleton State 59-35 in the second half in order to pick up the win at the Dee Events Center. The Texans had a 44-35 halftime lead.
Zahir Porter led the Wildcats with 23 points, along with 4 rebounds and 5 assists, while shooting 8-for-10 from the field and 5-of-6 from the three-point line. Isiah Brown added 22 points to go with his 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Seikou Sisoho Jawara chipped in 14 points, Dillon Jordan nearly had a double-double with 13 points and 9 boards. K.J. Cunningham poured in 10 points off the bench.

For Tarleton State, Montre Gibson had 26 points to lead the way, playing 40 minutes. Tahj Small added 16 points, while Shamir Bogues contributed 15 points.
Weber State shot 58 percent from the field (29-50), 58 percent from beyond the arc (14-24) and made 22 of their 30 free throw attempts. The Texans made 46 percent from the floor (26-56), 52 percent from deep (9-17) and connected on 18 of their 22 free throw attempts.
The Wildcats outrebounded the Texans 34-20 and had 20 assists on 29 field goals.
The Wildcats improved to 6-3 overall on the season. They will return to Big Sky play when they host Southern Utah on Thursday, January 21 against Southern Utah. The game will tip-off at 7 p.m. MST and will be broadcast on KJZZ and Pluto TV 1054. Then they will go to SUU on Saturday, January 23 at 12 p.m. MST.
