BOISE, Idaho – Legendary BYU basketball guard Jimmer Fredette wants to be one thing when he grows up.
Zach Wilson.
Wilson led the No. 9 Cougars to a dominant 51-17 road victory over the N0. 21 Boise State Broncos on Friday, November 6.
After the win, Fredette tweeted about his love for Wilson’s performance.
“When I grow up I want to be @zachkapano,” the BYU great posted on Twitter.
When I grow up I want to be @zachkapono

Shortly after the game, Wilson responded to Fredette’s tweet simply tweeting, “Wow.”

Fredette wasn’t the only former Cougar athlete to hype Wilson’s game against the Broncos.
Former BYU quarterback Tanner Mangum, who was replaced by Wilson in 2018, praised his former backup quarterback multiple times throughout the Cougars’ victory.
BYU made a STATEMENT tonight. Hard to ask for more than that. Another impressive showing from Zach, the offense as a whole and yet another stellar performance from the defense.
Cougs are rolling.

Last year, I was asked on the radio who I thought had a higher ceiling/potential between Zach Wilson, Jordan Love and Tyler Huntley.
I received some criticism when I said Zach.
Now, with Heisman hype and first-round grades, a lot of people are seeing what I was referring to.

From someone who played with (and yes — was benched for) Zach, I can say he is really, really good. He makes difficult things look easy and plays with a swagger and confidence that you don’t see often.

Wilson finished the game passing 21/27 for 359 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He added nine carries for eight yards and a touchdown on the ground.
BYU’s next game is North Alabama on November 21 at 1:00 p.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on BYUtv and KSL NewsRadio 102.7 FM and 1160 AM.
