SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Upcoming high school football games in Orem and Provo are set to be played without any spectators following the Utah Department of Health’s announcement that the pair of Utah County cities are moving from to a restriction level of “Orange” amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Previously, the two cities were under a “Yellow” or low level of restriction.

After the announcement by the state, Orem and Provo will be under a moderate restriction level beginning on Wednesday, September 23.

In addition to the level of restriction change, it was announced that team sports will be authorized to continue but spectators won’t be allowed to attend the events, including high school football games.

A Provo School District official confirmed to KSL Sports that fans won’t be allowed to attend football games held inside the District’s boundaries until the state downgrades from “Orange.” The restriction of spectators includes parents, family, friends, etc.

An Alpine School District official also confirmed the restriction for the three high schools in Orem and said that “activities impacted with spectators” will go into effect on Thursday, September 24.
