Utah Head Coach Kyle Whittingham Named 2019 Dodd Trophy Winner

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah football head coach Kyle Whittingham was named the winner of the Dodd Trophy for the 2019 season.
Whittingham was announced as the award’s winner on Friday, December 27.
The Dodd Trophy is given annually to the coach “whose program represents three pillars of success: Scholarship, Leadership and Integrity.”

Whittingham led the No. 11 Utes to an 11-2 record and a Pac-12 South title. Utah will play in its 14th bowl game under Whittingham when it takes on the Texas Longhorns in the Valero Alamo Bowl. Whittingham owns an 11-2 postseason record as head coach.
The Utes’ head man led eight players to first-team All-Pac-12 Conference honors.

Under Whittingham, Utah running back Zack Moss was honored as the Pac-12’s Offensive Player of the Year. Defensive lineman Bradlee Anae won the Morris Trophy.
Whittingham’s team has had their highest graduation success rate scores in the past two seasons, according to the school.

Whittingham is finishing his 15th season at Utah’s head coach. He’s in his 26th season a member of the Utes’ coaching staff.
Utah and Texas are scheduled to kick off at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31. The game will be broadcast on ESPN and 700 AM.
