Springville’s Defense Comes Up Big In 4th Quarter To Beat Dixie

SPRINGVILLE, Utah – In a defensive battle, the Springville Red Devils made the last crucial play on defense to beat the Dixie Flyers 21-20 on Game Night Live.
It was a turnover-filled game with some nice offensive plays mixed in to the action.
The Flyers started the game with a nine-yard touchdown catch by Treyce Simmons from Reggie Graff in the first quarter.
Springville capitalized on a muffed punt return by Dixie with a touchdown by running back Tyler Kelly.
In the second quarter, quarterback Payton Murphy found wide receiver Zachary Mitchell wide open for a touchdown to give Springville the 14-7 lead. He is the son of former Springville, Utah Utes, NFL quarterback and KSL Sports host Scott Mitchell.

Dixie tied the game at 14 midway through the third quarter as Graff threw a deep touchdown pass to wide receiver C.J. Schultz.

Early in the fourth quarter, Graff ran in a touchdown, but the missed extra point would give the Flyers a 20-14 lead.
With 5:18 left in the game, Henry ran in the game-tying touchdown on the goal line and the extra point make gave Springville the 21-20 advantage.
On Dixie’s opportunity to take the lead, the ball slipped out of the Graff’s hands on the snap and the Red Devils recovered the fumble with favorable field position.
Springville turned the ball over on downs in the red zone, giving the Flyers a chance to win the game but having to go the length of the field.
Two plays later, Graff threw his third interception after the wide receiver tipped the ball right to a defensive back.
