Southern Utah Men’s Basketball Beats Life Pacific For First Victory

SALT LAKE CITY – The Southern Utah men’s basketball team earned its first victory of the 2023-24 season by defeating the Life Pacific Warriors.
SUU Thunderbirds pick up first win
The Thunderbirds hosted the Warriors at America First Events Center in Cedar City, Utah on Thursday, November 9.

17 seconds into the contest, SUU’s Dominique Ford hit a three-pointer to get the Thunderbirds on the board first.

Less than a minute later, Life Pacific’s Austin Cook buried a triple to tie the scoreboard at 3-3. 45 seconds after Cook’s shot, Parsa Fallas dunked the ball to give SUU a 5-3 advantage.
The Warriors never came within two points of the T-Birds for the remainder of the evening.

By halftime, the Thunderbirds had built their lead to 52-27.
Following the break, Southern Utah’s lead hit 35 points and remained at that margin at the final buzzer.
SUU finished the contest shooting a blazing 59.1 percent from the field, including 38.9 percent from beyond the arc. Life Pacific shot 43.1 percent overall and 37.0 percent from downtown.
Six Thunderbirds scored at least 10 points. Prophet Johnson led Southern Utah with 22 points, four rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Zion Young added 18 points.

Cook had 22 points for the Warriors.
