10 Local NFL Players, Coaches Reach Super Bowl LVII With Championship Sunday Wins

SALT LAKE CITY – Multiple local NFL players helped the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles secure spots in Super Bowl LVII.

Here is how all of the players with ties to the state of Utah performed during Championship Sunday in the NFL Playoffs.

Former Utah Utes

Brian Johnson – Quarterbacks Coach – Philadelphia Eagles (14-3)

The former Utah quarterback helped lead the Eagles to a 31-7 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship on Sunday, January 29.

Next Game: Super Bowl LVII vs. Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, February 12 at 4:30 p.m. (MDT) on FOX

Alex Whittingham – Defensive Quality Control – Kansas City Chiefs (14-3)

The former Ute helped lead Kansas City to a 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship on Sunday, January 29.

Next Game: Super Bowl LVII vs. Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, February 12 at 4:30 p.m. (MDT) on FOX

Britain Covey – Wide Receiver – Philadelphia Eagles (14-3)

The former Utah wide receiver and the Eagles beat the San Francisco 49ers, 31-7, in the NFC Championship on Sunday, January 29.

Mitch Wishnowsky – Punter – San Francisco 49ers (13-4)

The former Utah punter punted four times with an average of 42.0 yards per kick in San Francisco’s 31-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship on Sunday, January 29.

Porter Ellett – Offensive Quality Control – Kansas City Chiefs (14-3)

The former Cougar helped lead Kansas City to a 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship on Sunday, January 29.

Fred Warner – Linebacker – San Francisco 49ers (13-4)

The former BYU linebacker had eight total tackles, four solo tackles, and a tackle for loss in San Francisco’s 31-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship on Sunday, January 29.
