Utah State Looks For Biggest Road Win Of Season Against Nevada

LOGAN, Utah – On the hunt for their first signature road win this season, Ryan Odom’s Utah State team look to upend second-place Nevada on Friday night.
The Nevada Wolfpack (14-4, 4-1) will host Utah State (14-3, 3-1) at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, NV on Friday, January 13. Tip-off for this game is scheduled for 9 p.m. (MST).

USU comes off one of their most impressive victories of the season against an undermanned Wyoming team. Utah State dominated the Cowboys, winning 83-63.
The Aggies lead the NCAA in 3-point accuracy at 42.9 percent, making 175 threes (10.3 per game).

In a their losses, a pair of one possession defeats to Weber State and SMU, and a more decisive 23-point Boise State victory, USU shot just 31.2 percent from deep.
Utah State will be without point guard Rylan Jones. Jones remains in concussion protocol after being injured against Boise State. This will be the fifth game he has missed this season.
Nevada Wolfpack
The Wolfpack look to rebound after coming up short at San Diego State earlier in the week, 74-65. The guard-line of Kenan Blackshear and Jarod Lucas struggled mightily against SDSU, combining for 23 points on 9-of-28 shooting and 1-of-10 from three.

Lucas’ 16.7 points per game leads Nevada. He shoots 37.8 percent from deep, fourth best in the Mountain West. His 2.7 triples per game are the third most in the conference, behind only Steven Ashworth and Taylor Funk.
Blackshear has been a dynamic weapon for the Wolfpack this season, scoring 14 points per game, second best on the team. Along with his scoring, Blackshear leads Nevada with 4.8 rebounds & 4.7 assists per game with 25 steals.
The Wolfpack average 72.8 points per game, sixth best in the Mountain West. Defensively, they allow the third fewest points at 64.4.

These teams split last season’s matchup, with each program picking up a win on the road. Nevada bested the Aggies in Logan on February 11, 2022 by an 85-72 score. USU knocked off the Wolfpack two weeks prior, blowing out Nevada 78-49 in Reno.
