Utah State Suffers Disappointing Home Loss To Nevada

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah State Aggies struggled in the second half as they fell to the Nevada Wolfpack 85-72 at The Spectrum on Friday night.
It was a strong first half for Utah State by outscoring Nevada 37-32. But, Nevada returned the favor by outscoring the Aggies 53-35 in the second half.
Brandon Horvath had a great performance for Utah State, leading the way with 29 points and eight rebounds. Justin Bean chipped in 16 points and nine rebounds. Rylan Jones added 11 points and six assists off the bench.
The Aggies shot 41% (24-58) from the field, 26% (6-23) from the three-point line and 78% (18-23) at the free throw line.

Nevada was led by Desmond Cambridge Jr. with 27 points and nine rebounds, including 10-of-16 shooting from the floor and 6-for-9 from the three-point line. Grant Sherfield dropped 24 points and five assists, including 12-of-14 at the foul line. Will Baker scored 12 points, while Kenan Blackshear added 10 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.
The Wolfpack shot 47% (29-61) from the floor, 50% (10-20) from beyond the arc and 65% (17-26) at the charity stripe. They turned it on in the second half by shooting 60% (18-30) from the field and 63% (7-11) from downtown.
The rebounding battle was even with both teams pulling down 37 boards. Points in the paint was nearly even with USU holding a 36-34 advantage.
Utah State dropped their record to 15-11 overall and 6-7 in Mountain West Conference play. They will look to snap their two-game losing streak when they travel to San Diego State on Tuesday, February 15 at 8 p.m. on CBS Sports Network and The Zone Sports Network.
