Locals In The NFL: Jaguars LB Devin Lloyd Intercepts Jets QB Zach Wilson

SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah Utes and current Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd picked off former BYU and current New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson during Week 16.
The Jets hosted the Jaguars at MetLife Stadium on Thursday, December 22.
With five seconds left in the second half and the Jets at 4th & 9 from their own 25-yard line, Wilson attempted a deep throw that was picked off by Lloyd. The former Ute returned the ball 19 yards to Jacksonville’s 33-yard line.
Lloyd and the Jaguars took a 13-3 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Late in the game, Lloyd had six total tackles, three solo tackles, and a pass breakup.
In the second half, Wilson was benched and replaced by former Canadian Football League signal-caller Chris Streveler.
Before leaving the game, Wilson was 9/18 passing for 92 yards and an interception. He had a rating of 41.9. Wilson also ran the ball once for one yard.
Entering Week 16, Wilson had thrown for 1,596 yards, six touchdowns, and six interceptions with a 54.9 percent completion rate this season. He’d also run 27 times for 101 yards and a touchdown.
This season, Lloyd has recorded 98 total tackles, 51 solo tackles, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and seven pass breakups.
The Jets entered the game with a 7-7 record. Jacksonville arrived with a 6-8 record.

About Devin Lloyd
Lloyd was selected by the Jaguars with the No. 27 overall pick during the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Prior to his time in the NFL, the Chula Vista, California native played at Utah from 2018-21.
As a senior in 2021, Lloyd recorded 111 total tackles, 66 solo tackles, eight sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, four interceptions, six pass breakups, and two touchdowns.
He helped the Utes win their first Pac-12 title and earn a Rose Bowl Game bid for the first time in program history.
During his Utah career, Lloyd had 256 total tackles, 150 solo tackles, 16.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, five interceptions, eight pass breakups, and three touchdowns.

About Zach Wilson
Before his time in the NFL, the Corner Canyon High School product had a standout career at BYU. Wilson helped the Cougars to an 11-1 record during his final season in Provo.
During Wilson’s rookie campaign last season, the former BYU standout missed four games because of a knee injury and threw for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns, and 11 interceptions with a 55.6 completion rate.
The former BYU star underwent surgery in August after suffering a knee injury in New York’s preseason opener. He also suffered a knee injury last season as a rookie.
Without Wilson, the Jets opened the 2022 season with a 1-2 record. After returning, the Jets posted a 5-2 record with Wilson starting.
The BYU great was benched following a loss in November to the New England Patriots and was inactive for three games.
