SALT LAKE CITY – Jordan Clarkson and the Utah Jazz set the net on fire with a barrage of three-pointers to open their game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Jazz hosted the Lakers at Vivint Arena on Monday, November 7.

During the first 12 minutes of game time, Clarkson and the Jazz connected on eight of their 12 attempts from beyond the arc.

The former NBA Sixth Man of the Year was responsible for four of the triples.

Two of Clarkson’s threes were highlight reel plays. With 2:15 remaining in the quarter, the Missouri product buried a 29-footer while getting fouled by Los Angeles’ Juan Toscano-Anderson. After a review, Toscano-Anderson was assessed a flagrant 1 foul. Clarkson buried the subsequent foul shot to complete a four-point play. It was Clarkson’s second consecutive game with a four-point play.

As the game expired to end the quarter, Clarkson hit a tough buzzer-beating three-pointer to give the Jazz an eight-point lead heading into the second quarter.

At the end of the first quarter, the Jazz owned a 42-34 lead. Clarkson led the Jazz with 15 points on 5-7 shooting, including 4-5 from distance. The guard added two rebounds and an assist while posting a plus-11 rating during his first nine minutes on the court.

This season, Clarkson is averaging 17.9 points per game on 42.9 percent shooting overall and 39.3 percent from three.

Utah’s game against Los Angeles is broadcast on AT&T SportsNet, NBA League Pass, and KSL Sports Zone.

Lakers vs. Jazz

The Jazz 8-3 record might be the most surprising story league-wide to open the season. That start includes a perfect 4-0 record at home.

Vivint Arena is traditionally one of the most difficult venues to play in in the NBA, and the Jazz have maintained that dominance despite an offseason roster overhaul.

The Jazz have the league’s second-best defensive rating at home, allowing just 102.9 points per 100 possessions in Salt Lake City.

Their 11.5 Net Rating is fifth among all teams at home this year.

Offensively, the Jazz have balanced their strong defensive attack at home by knocking down an average of 16.8 threes per game, tops in the league.

LeBron, Two Other Lakers Out

The Lakers will be extremely shorthanded when they travel to Utah to face the Jazz.

Superstar LeBron James will miss Monday’s game due to left foot soreness.

The Lakers starting backcourt will also miss the game in Utah as Lonnie Walker IV and Patrick Beverley are out with non-covid illnesses.

James had 17 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists in the Lakers loss to the Jazz on Friday, but the star’s impact on the game was hardly felt.

Beverley and Walker IV combined for 22 points, six rebounds, and two assists.
