SALT LAKE CITY – The backcourt for the Jazz helped Utah win the final 12 minutes of the first half against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Jazz hosted the Grizzlies at Vivint Arena on Saturday, October 29.

Following a strong start to the game, the Jazz cooled down midway through the opening quarter and trailed by six points at the end of the first 12 minutes of game time.

In the second quarter, Utah’s guards came to life, including a couple bench players. Those guards helped push the tempo and energy leading to a quarter won by the Jazz. During the second quarter, Utah’s guards combined to score 21 of the Jazz’s 38 second quarter points.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored seven of his 11 points in the quarter, Collin Sexton and Malik Beasley each added six points apiece. Jordan Clarkson scored two of his nine points in the quarter.

The big quarter helped the Jazz regain the lead and take a 62-54 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

At the break, Utah was led by Alexander-Walker and Sexton, who each had 11 points.

Utah’s game against Memphis is broadcast on AT&T SportsNet,Β NBA League Pass, andΒ KSL Sports Zone.

Grizzlies vs. Jazz

The Jazz came into the Saturday contest looking to rebound from a loss suffered the previous night. The Nuggets hosted the Jazz at Ball Arena on Friday, October 28. Denver looked to avenge its season-opening loss to the Jazz in Salt Lake City and beat Utah, 117-101.

Utah finished the game shooting 41.8 percent overall and 25.6 percent from three. Denver shot 45.9 percent from the field, including 45.9 percent from beyond the arc.

The Jazz had only three players score in double figures. Markkanen led Utah with 17 points on 7-14 field goals. Conley added 14 and Sexton had 13 off the bench.

With the loss, the Jazz dropped to a 4-2 record this season, including 2-2 on the road.

For Utah’s game against Memphis, the Jazz ruled out Mike Conley, Simone Fontecchio, Rudy Gay, and Walker Kessler.

The Grizzlies arrived in Salt Lake City with a 4-1 record, including 2-1 away from Memphis. All-Star Ja Morant was ruled out for Saturday’s game. Memphis is currently on a two-game winning streak.
