Markkanen Finishes Through Contact For And-One During Grizzlies-Jazz Game

SALT LAKE CITY – Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen pulled down an offensive rebound before finishing through contact for a three-point play during Utah’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Jazz hosted the Grizzlies at Vivint Arena on Saturday, October 29.
With 6:50 remaining in the opening quarter, Markkanen corralled an offensive board after a missed shot by Jordan Clarkson. After collecting the roundball, the forward jumped into the air for a shot. He finished the jumper despite getting fouled by John Konchar. The penalty sent Markkanen to the free throw line for a single shot.
Markkanen sunk the foul shot and gave Utah a 17-9 lead.

At the end of the first quarter, the Jazz trailed, 30-24.
In his first nine minutes of action, the Finnish forward had five points on 2-4 field goals. He added three rebounds and an assists during his first quarter minutes.
This season, Markkanen is averaging 21.2 points per game on 49.0 percent shooting.

Grizzlies vs. Jazz
The Jazz came into the Saturday contest looking to rebound from a loss suffered the previous night. The Nuggets hosted the Jazz at Ball Arena on Friday, October 28. Denver looked to avenge its season-opening loss to the Jazz in Salt Lake City and beat Utah, 117-101.
Utah finished the game shooting 41.8 percent overall and 25.6 percent from three. Denver shot 45.9 percent from the field, including 45.9 percent from beyond the arc.
The Jazz had only three players score in double figures. Markkanen led Utah with 17 points on 7-14 field goals. Conley added 14 and Sexton had 13 off the bench.
With the loss, the Jazz dropped to a 4-2 record this season, including 2-2 on the road.
For Utah’s game against Memphis, the Jazz ruled out Mike Conley, Simone Fontecchio, Rudy Gay, and Walker Kessler.

The Grizzlies arrived in Salt Lake City with a 4-1 record, including 2-1 away from Memphis. All-Star Ja Morant was ruled out for Saturday’s game. Memphis is currently on a two-game winning streak.
